This is Sandra, my favorite art teacher. I painted this portrait last year, a very large portrait, painted in the manner of
Alice Neal, a twentieth century portrait painter. This was an assignment painting, to paint a painting in the "manner" and size of an artist, thus the larger size. It is painted in oil paints, and though it was challenging, it was quite enjoyable to complete the project. Sandra sat for small drawings, and copious photos, and she was the best model one could ask for, being an artist herself.
